I'm running an RME Babyface Pro FS into the latest version of Logic Pro X. Monitoring via a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones. My headphones are plugged into the Babyface. While tracking my bass the only sound I'm getting (bass-wise) is on the left side. It's a mono signal so I understand that this would be normal with certain settings. During playback my bass comes through on both L and R, so no issue there.

My question is, can I expect to be able to find a way to hear both the L and R while tracking my bass (without buying headphones that have a "mono" option)? None of the research I've done (including reading through the RME owner's manual) have addressed this question clearly. I can't imagine there isn't some way of routing my signal, either in Logic or in RME's TotalMixFX software, that would produce the desired result - but I don't have enough experience with this stuff to be sure.

Thanks for any feedback anyone can provide.

I figured out what the problem was. I had the hardware input channel (in RME's TotalMixFX) up when I shouldn't have. This meant that I was hearing the direct monitor signal (mono) instead of the "software"/post-Logic signal (stereo).

Can you not set the hardware, direct monitoring to also go mono to both output channels (mono to "stereo")?

Not from what I can see - but there may very well be a way. You can set the hardware inputs to stereo but that didn’t change the sound when I tried it (still left side only). I only just started using the Babyface so there’s a lot I haven’t figured out yet (and the user manual is not as comprehensive and clear as it could be).
