Mooer Bass Sweeper vs. EHX Nano Bassballs, sweet spot?

i tried soooooo many envelope filters in the past and always wanted to try out the EHX Nano Bassballs, but i decided to get his clone (= Mooer Bass Sweeper) because of the two external "trim-pots". but i´m really having hard times to find THE sweet spot to make the pedal sound great. is the Bassballs also complicated like the Mooer? i both tried active and passive basses, with and without compressor.

The BassBalls has trims inside and I believe an oscilloscope is used at the factory to set the sweet spot. The reason for that is EHX uses a wide variety of parts and it easier to set the variable bias than to spec each part. I have tried to set it by ear comparing to a stock example and never had much luck. Fwiw each one I have has a bit different tone and response.

I personally like the Sweeper better than a real Bassballs - there is something different about the fuzz that is smoother.

Anyways, my personal sweet spot when I had a sweeper was both tiny knobs at about 11:00 and the big knob set so that with the fuzz switched on, your volume is just a hair above unity (that knob doubles as a volume knob essentially when the fuzz is on). I haven't really been able to match that sound right with either of the Bassballs I've had since I had the Sweeper.
