What's the nicest compressor you've ever played through?

Not sure how you are defining nice, but the “best” stomobox comps I’ve played are the Maxon CP9 Pro+ and a Tortenmann TK-23. I’m currently using a Keeley 4 Knob (I’ve tried nearly every Keeley model) and a Durham Sex Drive.

Still want to try the various FEA models and the Ovnifx Smoothie.

Seems like the creators of the Durham "SEX DRIVE" are in agreement with me regarding the existence of comp porn. ;) Seriously, though, not to exclude rack comp/limiters, I never knew a compressor could be so damn sexy as when I had the opportunity to play through some of the best-known compressors like an LA-2A, UA 1176, or even the Emperical Labs EL8, usually in a quality studio. Never knew what I was missing until then.

This Grompressor is an interesting piece, primarily due to the real-time changes on the graphic screen as you twist knobs, and the secondary (hidden) features for Blend, side chain, etc. It ain't cheap for a pedal, but if it has (subjectively) good performance then it's not outrageously expensive either.

I have one, have had it for a coupke of months.......works great, but it has some idiosyncracies.......switching between the 3 presents isn't as easy as it seems,.

The earning curve is steep, as with the Onkart Funky Filter, setting the input and output gain and volume Is tricky....

ANd, like the onkart grombass and Funky Filter it can be susceptible to noise from power supplies and computers near by

It has a very punchy tone.......I w8ll send it to @bongomania for a test run

Cool, hopefully Bongo will have the time to review it!

Do you have any info of what the scale measurements are for the gain reduction meters?

one of the reasons I like pedals is for the simplicity of the controls. Nice to have dry blend, input level (not just threshold), and side chain... but fiddling with multiple controls to access those functions (press a button + turn a knob) would surely drive me insane...

Doesn't state on their website if it's digital or analog signal path.

I'm betting that this is 100% digital between the A/D and D/A conversion. Digital control of an analog signal path would be a HUGE selling point and I suspect that it would be a highlighted feature if it were.
