Moving from IEM's to amp in certain situations

Hi all - 1st post so be gentle. I've been playing in an acoustic duo, playing through an Apollo unit into an in ear monitor mix. Great for saving the ears, and I love the control of the sound on stage. Often we play small to medium venues and run the house mix through a small PA, or through the house PA depending on the venue. My IEM's are ridiculously awesome (crazy $ - but worth it).

My guitarist/singer partner just switched from the small PA we use when a house rig isn't available to one of those Bose units which are meant really for small acoustic gigs. They evidently have a clean sound, but he only has one of the subwoofer units, and is considering either adding a second sub, or having me play through an amp again that would face the house to provide some punch. I'll still be listening through my IEM's for the rest of the mix. But it will be nice to feel some rumble :)

Added to that we are now forming a separate group adding in a full drum kit, 2 guitars with vocals, and keys so we can play different types of gigs (corporate gigs, larger venues etc.) and music it would difficult to play without more sound. I don't know how often we will use IEMs (the drummer will for sure for a click), so I may need something versatile and somewhat larger than I'd like to punch through the mix.

So that is all a very long way of saying...what amp/combo's should I consider that wouldn't be too massive for smaller gigs (i.e. I don't want to lug around a massive Ampeg rig again) but could do a decent job with medium sized venues when needed. I know this has likely been asked a ton. Budget isn't a major issue if that helps.

I was thinking about a Markbass setup as I like that sound, and I don't like SWR stuff. I was thinking of a 2x10 or maybe 2 x 12 setup. Thoughts?

My yacht rock band uses the JBL Eon One version of the Bose configuration. We all go direct to the PA. The JBL's subwoofer is far superior to that of the Bose, and my bass sounds very good through it. We use it for small gigs, even outdoors. It's plenty loud.

My opinion is that if you already have a great IEM setup and are used to it it's counterproductive to add amps when adding more band members. A better PA and everyone on IEM'S will save your ears.

If it's one of these Bose setups you'll have plenty of bass
