Multi scale build w/ Osage Orange neck.

Hey guys, this is my first official build and I wanted to do something fun. I wanted to make an Explorer-ish style multi scale bass that I could put an F# set on. Scale is 940 cm to 864 cm (37-34) on a Pau Ferro board and stainless steel Jescar frets, Guitar Madness (Korean) jazz rail pickups, 500k pots and Vol Blend Tone layout. Body wings are ash and the Osage is so yellow I had to work with it, so I did a sunburst finish. Hope you dig it!

That's not an Explorer-ish body - you've made rational decisions about how to locate the strap buttons. ;-)

It is 11 lbs right on the dot Ha, maybe not great for a long gig. When I milled the neck blank alone it weighed 13 lbs

May I ask where you got the Osage? I’ve only seen sorta fretboard sized boards at Woodcraft. I guess I haven’t made a really diligent search on line.

It is difficult to find in large pieces without cracks and knots and twists. I got this from a local yard in Nashville.

I will say, the Osage plays so well with that "tobacco burst" look, well done!

I like that you really put your own take on the Explorer shape, it doesn't look Explorer while still looking Explorer, so that's a huge win.
