Hello and sorry if this has been asked and answered before, I tried searching but nothing was really like my problem.

So I have this Music Man SUB USA (one of those older ones, don't remember the exact year) which I bought used. It has significant fret buzz only on the 10th fret of the A string, and to clarify it's NOT that recognizable "stingray buzz". I have tried raising strings to the point where the action was uncomfortably high and the buzz went away almost completely, but I mainly play slap and I couldn't play with my action that high. What could be the cause of the buzz?

The buzz was there when I bought the bass, but it wasn't quite as bad as now when I changed the strings. Currently it has a set of R.Cocco Stainless Steel 045-105s.

I hope someone would know a solution for this as I don't live close to any guitar techs.

Welcome to TalkBass.
Probably a loose or high 11th fret.
Check for a loose fret first if you can slide ANYTHING under the edge of the fret then use some CA to glue it down and clamp it for a couple minutes. If it isn't loose, use a fret rocker to see if it is high. If it is high it needs to be filed down and crowned.
You may wind up doing the 12th and 13th frets as well.
