After using a Stingray for many years both in bands and recording alone…never had an issue but recently got a Bongo and it’s just too hot of a signal recording DI. I’ve learned to live with it but it’s not as much fun to use as the Stingray…
Yes I can turn the the Vol and EQ settings down a lot to stop it distorting but it feels like I’m killing off the power of the signal just to stop the distortion.
With the Stingray it never got so hot at max vol and EQ.
One fox has been to use a distortion pedal which seems to absorb some of the hotness but the tone is not as good.
Really not sure if I should get rid of the bass or just live with the fact that at 18v I have no choice but to use it at 20% vol or suffer the horrible clipping / overdrive distortion nonsense.
I haven’t played the Bongo through a live amp and cab so no idea of it behaves like this elsewhere.
I use a Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen.
Could it be my interfere just cannot handle it?
