Hi I'm looking to get a good sounding octave pedal for my bass. I love the funky octave tone mike Gordon used to pump out back in the day on tunes like Reba and would like to find that tone without spending $600 on a Mutron. These two pedals seem pretty popular on sweetwater. Any recommendations between the two?

MXR M288 or EHX Octave Multiplexer?

Depends if you're going for an analog or digital sound? To me, the MXR is one of the best right now.
Does the MXR have more of an analog sound? The MXR seems to nail it in the videos I've seen. Plus they made the blue box Jimmy Page used on Fool In The Rain.
They're both good pedals. They have very different sounds. Both have a really nice analog goodness.
Is the pedal that Mike Gordon used the Mutron Octave divider? If so look into the 3Leaf Octabvre. One side is a really good OC2 sound and the other is supposedly the Mutron OD. It is more expensive than those two but it might get you closer to the sound you are looking for.
