My '77 Ric

So awesome.... ;)

Love it, but I'm a bit partial to that color; my '83 4003 is nearly the same but for black-over-white double binding and no shedua strip. Copper-colored strings look great on this color bass. (Not that I'd pick strings primarily based on color, but I like the unfortunately discontinued D'Addario XL Reds/EXP Reds.)

Actually, all the RIC burst finishes feature a burst on the headstock. It's typically a diagonal stroke across the head, dark on top and bottom, light in the middle. Some are more subtle than others.
Good to know, cuz I'm a big fan of the carpet matching the drapes ... natural stocks on painted basses make cringe. I've got a nice Spector, and the only thing I'm gassing for is to someday have a Ric ... you have just added to my reasons why

Most, but not all Ricks have the matching head (and neck). There were exceptions – the 2020 Hamburg and 2060 El Dorado had unpainted "bolt-on" necks with unpainted heads. All others should have matching necks/heads.
