My best girl got a makeover and she's so pretty! (Tapewounds content)

Well, I think so. :)

Just got her back from the shop, and they installed the set of limited edition LaBella "Purple Haze" gold nylon tapewounds I ordered from Bass Strings Online, and man, not only are they gorgeous, but they sound great too! The tech had to grind out the nut a bit to make them fit, but it was worth the extra cash. They have more "snap" than most tapewounds I've tried, and they go perfectly with the Geezer pickup.

I was uncertain how the purple would look with my P, but now I can't stop staring at it - this bass now sounds *exactly* how I want it to sound, and it's going to be a while before I change anything on it.

Close up on the body - it's hard to photograph them in a way that shows the purple silk interwoven into the strings. Fun fact: this bass hung on the wall of the guitar shop for 3 years before I bought it. As a result, it aged around the "Fender US Standard" logo on the pickguard film, hence, the white spot on the upper right.

And, a view of the silks.

Are they back in stock or did you have the set of strings for a while? I really want to buy a set of these to try out tapes! Sweet bass, btw.

Thanks man, much appreciated. I pre-ordered them back in March, and sort of fretted over which bass they were going on. It was either this one, with the Geezer, or my other one with the SD Quarter Pounder. I felt like mellower tapes would be wasted on the SPB-3.

Eventually I settled on this P, and I think I made the right choice.

I've had regular Gold Nylon Tapes on my precision for the last 4/5 months and I can't see ever using anything else.
I love the sound.
That purple sure looks nice...I know they do these special edition strings every so often...but they're sold out every time I think to check!
