Well, I think so.
Just got her back from the shop, and they installed the set of limited edition LaBella "Purple Haze" gold nylon tapewounds I ordered from Bass Strings Online, and man, not only are they gorgeous, but they sound great too! The tech had to grind out the nut a bit to make them fit, but it was worth the extra cash. They have more "snap" than most tapewounds I've tried, and they go perfectly with the Geezer pickup.
I was uncertain how the purple would look with my P, but now I can't stop staring at it - this bass now sounds *exactly* how I want it to sound, and it's going to be a while before I change anything on it.
Full view:
Close up on the body - it's hard to photograph them in a way that shows the purple silk interwoven into the strings. Fun fact: this bass hung on the wall of the guitar shop for 3 years before I bought it. As a result, it aged around the "Fender US Standard" logo on the pickguard film, hence, the white spot on the upper right.
And, a view of the silks.
