My 23-year old daughter released an EP of original songs this year.

It's a concept album with each song being based on a work by Van Gogh (4 paintings and one letter to his brother)

I hadn't been playing bass very much the couple of years before this but she was nice enough to ask me to play on 4 of the 5 songs.

All music and lyrics are hers, she played all the acoustic guitar and piano, some of the percussion, and had a lot of input on everything else.

Mostly I wanted to get her music in front of more people but if you want to critique my bass playing that's cool too.

Hope you enjoy!

She's in the studio as I type this working on some new stuff. If you're interested you can follow her on instagram: @natashalucemusic

I love this! I'm always looking for new, young, up-and-coming artists to listen to, and this is fantastic stuff. I'm following on Spotify now.

My mentality is that the famous musicians already have enough fans to make a living, but the lesser-known ones do not, so they need my support more. And when they get big, I'll support another growing artist.

EDIT: And what a moment that the kid wants Dad to play on her album. That's priceless. And music is eternal so that memory is forever.

I really like what I heard. Very, very nice work, cool to see this kind of music coming from a young person.
There's also something special about playing music with one's kids. Treasure that.

Your daughter is super talented OP! I love that she asked you to play bass on her EP! Hopefully, she makes some more music that we can all share and listen to.

My only complaint is that your bass needs to be turned up on some of the songs. You played really well, especially on "Olive Branch". What kind of bass did you play?

Thank you. Getting to play her music and just being there in the studio was a musical lifetime highlight for me, no questions.

I played my Sadowsky Metroline J/J with tapewounds on #5, my Fender Reggie Hamilton on Olive Branch, and one of the studio basses, a FrankenFender P/J, on No One is Me and Irises.
