My Experience with Peavey Customer Service

Sorry so long

History: I purchased a Peavey Max 112 in 2014

5 year warranty

So I have had this amp since 3-15-2014 and it had been functioning perfectly up till the end of last year.

The issue was one of the EQ buttons would not stay in the on position, which I rectified with a piece of plastic to hold it down.

Fast forward to last week, I had two more that I discovered have the issue I mentioned above, I contacted Peavey Customer Service and they got back to me today and said the amp is under warranty and that I can bring it back to the dealer and have them replace it.

So I call the dealer, who informs me they no longer carry this model and send me back to Peavey, who mention to me that if the dealer did not come through, that I should contact a Peavey service center in my area, which is 4 blocks from my house I come to find. So I email the manager over there, who turns out to be a friend who was in bands back in the day in the area where I live. He goes out of his way to help and gets in touch with Peavey sales and finds it has a “no service warranty” issued in 2015. So I get back to Peavey and the person I am dealing with tells me that the person he spoke to is sitting right next to her. She explains my situation to him including upcoming performances in April and they come up with a plan, send my serial # to the service center my friend works at, so he can submit the info today, to a person’s attention in a Dept. Peavey Customer Service has already inform to put it through right away.

I was supposed to bring the amp to him this Sat and they would send it to be determined, the next step that was repair or replace? That was bypassed and I do not have to bring it till the new one comes in. All in all a great job by everyone involved to resolve my issue.

regards,
Rob

Boy it sure is refreshing to hear something other than horror stories about a companies CS. I've heard it all as a CS rep in another industry. I've had both ends of it. The most recent about 4 yrs ago with Genz Benz and they were almost superhuman in the solution which was rectified within 48 hrs. I love a happy ending.

I don't know what you guys are talking about.

A Peavey stopped working?
Never heard of this.
CS400 was used by my buddy for his stereo.
He forgot to trun it off when he went to Canada; when he came back 1 1/2 years later still working great.

I've had a 400 bass amp that I bought with lawn cutting money in about 1972.
Sold it to a friend; I'm not so sure that the capacitors have been changed.

People used to say that at the end of the world there will only be 2 things that survide; cockroaches and Peavey's.

An old tube Peavey arrived at our rehearsal space as our guitarist left his main amp (Peavey 30) at home and he grabbed this one from work.
Killer. I think this one might show up at the next gig.
Those Mississippi Marshalls kick butt too.

Some of you may not know that tube amps in particular work better when they are used rather than let sit. In Broadcast the equipment is left ON, 24/7/365. Most components are fine sitting at idle or being used for weeks months or years without turning off. I believe the old caps in particular would last decades when used, but if not excercised regularly, die sooner. I'm not in the least bit surprised that the PV400 was fine after a year plus. PS, I wouldn't wish those amps on anyone, I schlepped the 800 for years.

I would say Jim C is right for my money. My 30+ years experience with my Peavey gear has been faultless and only once I had to contact a CS rep here in Australia for a minor issue back in the 90's. I think Peavey equipment is the most reliable band gear in the world.
