Double Bass My First Online URB Lesson

I had planned to take some lessons with a player who travels to a nearby town each week for a gig; I'd set up some times, but had to cancel. Now the gig is gone, and he's had to move his teaching online, so I made a point of scheduling a couple of lessons. Despite the expected glitches, since we're both new to the medium and the app, I got enough out of it that I will be back for a second lesson soon. We used Zoom.

This is an especially good time to schedule this kind of lesson, and for teachers to master the medium. I highly recommend it. Sometimes a crisis creates opportunities for growth.

It's a great resource.

Unfortunately, I don't believe it is optimal for teaching absolute beginners. Teaching and learning basic body/arms/hands positioning, and correcting bad technique, has got to be sooo much easier in person.

But, it looks like this is the way it's going to be for the next year or so...c'est la vie.

My teacher and I live only a few miles apart but we are transitioning to online lessons starting Monday. I think it will be ok. The main downside is that we often do duets as part of identifying issues and I don't see how this will work with the online lag times.

Agreed that it's not optimal! I do encourage everyone to use online platforms to keep learning and earning. :)
