I've been on the eternal search for good flat-wound strings. After reading post after post singing the praises of TI flats, I finally broke down and got a couple of sets... one for my Bluesman Vintage 4-string w/ Thunderbird pickups and another for my Overwater 5-string fretless.
They arrived today.
I opened the package to see what a $100+ set of flat-wound strings looks like. As I opened the package, I was expecting a shining gold light, angel voices and maybe some dancing girls. What I got was a nice looking set of strings with a B-string that doesn't look as 'flat' as most of the flat-wounds I've owned. The low-B actually has a bit more texture... like a smooth half-round. The rest feel like really nice flat wound strings.
Is that normal for the B to have a little more texture? Maybe it has something to do with the thickness of the string?
