I've looked up so many covers on YouTube of Primus' My Name Is Mud, and I've watch even more videos of Les playing the song. Saw them live a week ago, too. Les' double slap thumb technique is quite amazing, and I've had a lot of trouble replicating it. It seems like he is playing:
--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
-------------------3----------------3------
-1h3-3-1h3-3------1h3-3-1h3-3---------

Is that slap more of a "bounce" on the B string, or does he do a full "thump" and slap through the B string to rest his thumb on the E string with each thump? It also seems like he's doing some muting with his left hand, but I'm not totally sure how that goes, either.

Hey I am just cruising through the forums and I figured I would chime in even thought the post is a few days old...

For the verses of that song he is playing mutes the whole time, including a muted Hammer-on. It's actually a lot more simple than it looks. It's a sextuplet rhythm but it's really one triplet repeated: Thumb, Thumb, Hammer. Mute the first thump on the open B string with your left hand, then on the second thump, sort of let your thumb "stick" on the string to mute it, and at the same time hit your left fingers on the string to whack it against the fretboard, but don't actually fret the note. The release is another muted thumb played on the E I believe.

It might take some practice, but if you slap at all, you already mute with your left probably more than you realize, you just have to actually mute it a bit harder if that makes any sense.
