massive thank you's to those in and out of this community who facilitated this (still in progress) transaction helping me to bring home the 32" scale Carl Thompson 4 string with all the bells, whistles, frills, whatever. Anyone who searches the name "Carl Thompson" on this website and has read through the threads is surely familiar with the small clique of us superfans who buy, sell, and trade to get ahold of that dream bass or basses...and you've probably grown tired of seeing me offering up my 2 CT no/semi-frills for your 1 32" frills. Well those days are over!!! It actually happened!!! A 3-way-thompson-swap-a-ma-jig-with-all-sorts-of-nonsense-trading-hands or maybe it was actually a 4-way :woot:

but I digress...I give you...

Congrats and may it serve you well.

I had the pleasure of visiting Mr. Thompson's shop some 20+ years ago - was in downtown Brooklyn back then if I recall correctly, no clue where it's now - and was driven insane by how magnificent his creations were.

likely the exact same spot and still cranking out basses. who knows how much longer but doesn't seem to be slowing down.

thanks all for the nice words, I didn't think it was possible to like a bass more than my 36" 2510

Very nice, Evan! Hope you're doing well. I really dug your basses at the 2010 TB GTG. Love the look of this one!

Hey, great to hear from you! Yeah, things are going well...not really playing as much since I had kids 6 years ago, at least not in any bands but still keep a bass (or a few) on stands in my man cave and regularly get my groove on. You are out west now? If you are ever in the area and want to check out my CTs, more than down...

Looks like so much work was put in to make his basses. No wonder there are not many around. I heard one and it does sound good.

Its all about the way they feel. Sure they look great...but they feel amazing. Light weight, balanced, actual math and rulers used during the build process with attention given utmost to the player first.

They sound very nice, but I find that all basses sound nice if you know how to play. There is no such thing as "tonewoods" and anyone who wastes their time on electronics to dial in a sound is really just kidding themselves since every room you play in has a different sound and at times your tone will sound bassy or thin where the same settings will sound totally different in a different room. Almost everything affects the tone...the freshness of your strings, the cleanliness of your hands, shape of the room, where your amp is pointed...heck, even the number of people in the room will affect your tone.
