My pickup on playing the A string sounds too weak

Not too sure how to have worded this since I just bought a bass guitar and got it at a pawnshop so I'm wondering if the pickup position above the A string is maybe something defective with the pickup there. The E D G strings sounds all OK.

I have the split coil on the neck pickup and regular pickup on the bridge.

If I need to take a picture let me know and I'll try to upload one for you all.

Well, not enough info, so a picture would be great.

In the event you bought a P Bass, and the strings saddles are adjusted to follow the contour of your fingerboard, you may simply need to adjust the pickup similarly.
