Based on the reviews on TecAmp amps I see here, I picked up a TecAmp TEC 20B, almost brand new, for 200 CAD. I can't find out much about this model on the net, most of the hits being on various Puma models. It plays okay, but I think I'll take the back off the amp. When I play full bass and half volume, it buzzes and rattles. My other source of pleasure is my old 1967 Hagstrom Concorde I hollow-body bass, returned from the luthier. It has a new rosewood angled bridge in addition to myriad repairs. I'd not played this in almost 40 years, it having been disassembled all that time, but as soon as I had it back in my hands, the old knowledge came right back, and my hands recognised the neck, and I played that old bass more in one day than I played all my other guitars in 2 weeks.
The amp was a Christmas present for a young lady whose father got the wrong kind of amp for her acoustic guitar, it being a bass amp. She only played it for about 5 minutes before pronouncing judgement, and I guess the dad didn't want to return it, or maybe it was some dodgy deal, but anyhow, it came with the box and papers, and the seller said he'll send me a copy of the bill.
I wonder how much I can annoy my neighbours now ... >;->
