NAD Orange Terror Bass V2

Finally got an Orange.

After my SWR finally started giving me issues after decades of use I decided it was time to get a new head. I was looking for something light enough to gig with and could pair well with both large and small cabs.

The Orange was not really on my radar until a little over a week ago I got the chance to play a Terror Bass at a local shop. I was floored with the tube tone this head could produce. I played it through a matching OBC-112 cab and was impressed to say the least.

It just so happened someone had one for sale localluly in mint condition and they were moving so it was a steal of a price and I couldn't pass it up. I got it home last night and only got about 45 min to an hour with it but it sounds phenomenal through my LDS 2x15 cab (deltalite II 2515) with no tweeter in the cab.

Gives a nice fat vintage tube tone with my p bass and crank the treble and scoop the mids and you get a more modern sound. I am sure a cab with tweeter and active pickups would sound even more modern. All my basses are passive and I currently have no cabs with tweeters to test this theory. The clean sound is very full sounding. there are no weak notes or frequencies I could hear. The overdrive is one of the few I have heard on a bass amp that I actually like. I want to say it's almost fuzz sounding? This amp also takes pedals extremely well and loved the fuzz, OD, and distortion I hit it with.

Not to mention it looks killer as well.

Alright after getting to play it a good bit the last couple of days I have to say this amp just sounds great. It let's your bass set your fundamental tone and just influenced that tone from there. I set the treble to 9 or 11 o'clock mid at noon and bass at 1 or 2 o clock. Gain at noon and volume to need and it's going to sound awesome.

I go for a more vintage tone overall but I just never found a tube amp that I was ever totally satisfied with. It can do the more modern thing you just gotta crank the treble a bit and cut the mids a little and have the right bass. I would love to see what an active bass sounds like this this head. All my basses are passive with Bartolini pickups and I have one with TV Jones Thundertrons which sound really interesting through this head, in a good way.

The LDS 2x15 Deltalite II cab I have been using with it sounds great. I always love 2x15. Now I need to find a small 2x10 for small gigs if anyone has any recommendations.

I can upload some sound clips or a vouplensettings if enough people are interested. Maybe even run a couple pedal, it does pedals really well on the clean channel.
