2013 Squier Affinity P-Bass all stock expected the bridge (MIM one). It will soon get a white pearl pickguard instead of the 1-ply white one who had stickers.

Just head to clean it, set E-side pickup distance, give a few Allen key turns on the trussrod, put old roundwound AND VOILA.

Sounds delicious, looks delicious. 120 euros. Nothing more to say.

Congrats on the AFN P, it's beautiful.
Nice pic of the frets BTW.

I agree, the PG on the AFN need to go, and Red/white pearl is a good choice, although I generally don't like pearl on most other colors.
Your story is the same as mine, my AFN P had a sweet neck when I bought it, and needed no fret work whatsoever.

I don't know how much a euro is but sounds like you got a good deal.

Thanks! Glad to hear that the white pearl pickguard is a good idea! I was thinking of a gold anodized one too, but I think that it would go better with a maple fingerboard. 120 euro equals 140 usd approximately I'd say. Cheers :)

Gold anodized are cool too, but on something darker like navy blue.
On red/rosewood, I'd do white (maybe even white pearl).

I saw a 6 string yesterday, the guy said it was race car red (not to be confused with CAR),
it had a maple neck and a red tort PG, man it was awesome!!!

I've never been a fan of the race car red, I think I have a thing for sparkles!

I agree about gold pickguard with a blue ;)

A P Bass?? Who are you?? :roflmao: ;)

Just kidding! Nice score. That's about what I paid for mine, and it's more than paid for itself. That must be one of the last years they did the P, before they converted to PJ. I always thought if I got a red bass I'd go black-out, or at least black pickguard. But white pearl is nice too, that's what I put on my blue one!

Enjoy that bad boy!

Exactly, and I specifically wanted a P, not a PJ. SO, I'm glad.

Very nice! There are some sweet Affinities out there to be found.

Was the nut upgraded?

Exactly, you just got to seek and find one. Nut is original, a bit low but not buzzing so far. Very easy to play the first fret!!

I just have Squier Standards (PJ) these days for the P stuff, and that's not much more used than the Affinity. Which is the better value?

The Standard should be a better value, if the neck is straight with margin on the trussrod setting. That means it's older and it's still rocking! I had to turn my trussrod a lot on this 2013 Affinity... The neck is light...

So light that... this is the first bass that doesn't have the neck touching the floor when puting it on my photographying place :

Also, the neck is getting an upgrade... or the body I'd say:

Classic Vibe 60 Precision bass neck from 2012! 1st Gen... unused.

I have a 2005 Affinity and a 2000 Standard. The I did more work to the affinity but it was more preference (jazz neck, pickguard) and neglect (rusty bridge, shoddy rewire job) than it was about quality (Affinity still has stock pickup in) The Affinity neck was just fine, and they are pretty close overall basses in terms of quality. but that's the only Standard I've met.

Have you visited the family?

Thank you. Hopefully it's not too damage! Also setting a pearled white pickguard, and flat head knobs. I'm hesitate to put a vintage threaded or hi-mass bridge. Advices, folks?
The bridge on there is functionally fine. I prefer the look of a vintage bridge and I think it would be a good fit with the other mods you are making....but that is just my preference.

I’d suggest rolling the fingerboard edges (can be done easily with a bottle neck or similar round object) and possibly getting an actual crown on the frets, as almost every Affinity I’ve played has had frets that were just shy of being actually dressed.

Edit: I see now you’re already planning on changing the neck.

Great Score!! I too scored a 14 year old model that had sat in a closet unplayed for all of its life. It was owned by a Fender employee. A great bass still had the plastic protection on it! Thanks for posting! You got a great bass! I love mine
