Assembled this just this week. Wanted it to look like something found in the back of an auto shop in the 60s. Experimenting with different straps and strap button positions to tame neck dive. But even more noticeable is that the headstock sits a few inches further away from my body due to the fulcrum point.

Body-USA Customs Big T, Reranch Daphne blue, satin clear nitro
Neck-Ebay cheapie but nice looking birdseye maple with Purpleheart board
Electronics- Dingwall by Nordstrand parallel fret from @bmihalov
Hardware- Q-parts, zinc covers by me.

Noice! I have an ASAT and there is definitely a draw for me to that look! Yes, the real trick is finding your fulcrum point
between straps and attachment points. I didn't move anything, but I managed to find something with a good strap.

Anyway, an excellent assembly. The bass looks great! I really like that you made your own pu covers. Noice again!

What's in the cryptic "Dingwall by Nordstrand parallel fret" setup? Explain please....

Thanks! Nordstrand FD3 pickups. I don't know if they make them anymore. Nordstrand Dingwall FD3 - Best Bass Gear

Wow...I'm old and trying to stay on the new gear curve becomes increasingly more difficult.
I have no idea what a "Dingwall Sound" is vs everything else (I've never heard one in person), though clearly it is a popular voice.
Enjoy it!

That’s a monster, congrats! Very nice details.

Having owned 7 ASAT basses (formerly known on TB as ASATMAN) the vibe is certainly a double edged sword. Cool classic design but awkward ergonomics. I came up with a strap extension to replicate the hang similar to a standard P bass. Couldn’t play them otherwise. But not everybody has an issue with neck dive.
