NBD: Ibanez BTB7 7-string bass

Found the bass I've been GAS-ing for since I first started learning. But was always out of reach due to the price tag. By sheer luck I noticed that there was a used one at my local GC! Just came in a few days ago. Like new condition for $799! Plays like a dream, I can't believe I have one! :D God is good.

9pc Maple/Rosewood/Walnut neck-through w/Graphite reinforcement rods
Rosewood top/Maple wing body
tuned BEADGCF
35" scale

Neck is way too wide for my stand, so just pictures in the case

So far, so good! No hum, which is very important to me. It's got a 3-band EQ, master volume, pickup balancer, and EQ on/off switch. I need more time to experiment but so far, the variety of available tones is excellent. B-string sounds great, very clear and is not "flabby". Even volume on all strings and frets.

The bridge seems to isolate the strings, I can pluck one string as hard as I want and the others stay quiet.

At last... congrats el_Bajo_Negro! :bassist:

How's the weight?

Mine was initially 5.2 Kg. After I swapped the tuners with Gotoh Res-O-Lite GB350s, now it weighs 5 Kg (I know the weight difference shouldn't be 200 grams, cause the stock tuners were 60 gr each and the Res-O-Lites are 40 gr each, so it should be 7 x 20 = 140 gr. The reason for this is because I weighed it using bathroom scale).

Mine turns out to be 10.8 lbs (4.9 kg)

I just weight myself with and without the bass :smug:

(Never mind the bridge and the knobs) I'm guessing yours came from different production batch/year. What year was it made? mine is 2016

You have the first run Limited Edition that Ibanez first put out. The rest after that are the BTB7E, part of the Bass Workshop series. By the time I had the funds to buy the first run they were out of them already and I had to wait 6 months for the next batch to come before I got mine. I've played it almost exclusively for the past year and a half, love it.

nope... as stated in the end of #14 post, mine is 2016, not the first run / Limited Edition.
