Just picked up an Ibanez Mezzo bass in the candy apple matte finish, which I think looks pretty great with the pearloid pick guard. No issues with the finish at all.

I haven't weighed it yet but it's very light. The neck is nice, smooth and satiny on the back, the frets seem good and level and fret ends are totally fine. I've got no sprout at all and don't even think I'll have to dress them.

I am going to upgrade the tuners as they're not great. They're passible but I'm going to try a different set I've got coming. Same with the bridge, it's the B10 which is fine but I like the B100 better for Ibanez and it's a straight swap. It'll also get a set of flat wounds when I make those changes.

The pickups are just what everyone has said about them. The p pick up is actually pretty great, the j not so much. I'll be upgrading that eventually as well once I decide what I want to put in.

I don't know how many people have one of these. I see them here and there and I don't know if they're terribly popular, but for what they cost especially if you can get a deal it's like a lot of other basses these days in the budget bracket: it definitely punches above its weight and with a few little mods I figure it'll be pretty kick butt.

Btw the headstock does match it's just the lighting where I took the picture and made it look a lot darker.
