NBD Jackson Concert Bass (Jackenbacher)

Hey y'all, I recently bought a vintage bass, but after looking at the condition of the frets and thinking about the actual practicality, I unfortunately had to return it.

Instead I got a beautiful Absynthe Frost Jackson Concert Bass. It's basically half of a PJ bass mixed with a Ric. I've been looking at this guitar ever since I saw the 2019 Green Rics, but couldn't afford one. This bass was $499.97 on closeout, tags/plastic still on, not a finish scratch anywhere which is a steal!

It plays great, looks great, and I put some new strings on it today. QC at Jackson is definitely great, I have not seen any bad Jackson's in the last 4 Years! Way to go FMIC!

I want to put a stereo jack in here and upgrade to some different pickups maybe an active set of EMGs, or some DiMarzio Relentless pickups. Any ideas?

I will admit i was shocked when i saw this bass on the web, but damned if you arent getting the ric sound out of that. That bloopy tone we all know. Is it 34" scale or a bit shorter like a ric?

Thank you for that new word, I love the way "Bloopy" fits!
It's got a 34" scale, but 24 frets rather than the 20? Normally on Rics?
I think but once I dropped the action it was perfect.

I heard people put flatwounds on Ric's, but I like that treble clang you get from picks too.

Coated strings feel like a good middle ground between finger slip, and bright sound!

Cheers, bud.

My 1972 Ibanez 2615B.

Funnily enough, it also takes much of it's style from a ric!

I think Ibanez pulled all their lawsuit parts together to make these

Once I saw that bridge and control scheme I was sure it was Ric inspired! I wonder if we can just turn this to a place to see some wonder Ric inspired basses!

Anyone else got a bass with an homage to the 4001/4003?

Is that a J under that cover? Is it in the Ric treble pickup spot?

It's definitely a J underneath, I really don't like it too much its quieter and gives off a bad buzz. It's cool because the bass has a blend, but I find myself just always using the P pup, maybe I need to raise it up? I was thinking about upgrading the pickups to a relentless Neck and Super Jazz or Relentless J from DiMarzio, that or an EMG set?

Awesome bass. I've been looking at them for quite some time! Enjoy!!
I just wish I could remove the chrome pickup cover, but they screwed it in so deep it left a dent in finish. Except for a noisy J bridge pickup it's definitely great, all it needed was a drop in saddle height.

The pointy headstock adds some length, so be careful when you swing around; you might poke somebody's eye out!
