Wasn’t looking for this but it popped up at my local GC so I grabbed it up. Plays well right out of the case and seems to be in great condition. There’s some dust, dirt and one scratch/gouge on the middle top. I didn’t score a great deal but I think I paid a fair price.

Ha I was looking at yours in another Magnum post before I went thinking “no way it’s in that good of shape”. Any thoughts on strings or tips for that crazy bridge?
The bridge takes some tweaking and practice to get used to, but it does work, I had no problem setting my intonation (once I got a replacement nut for the one that was missing) - what's curious is that mine came with that same oddly misplaced D string saddle, odd coincidence...

I heard something rattling, the nut that holds the D string saddle in place was in the control cavity. I jacked up the bridge settings trying to figure out how to take it off to put that nut back on. On a positive not the intonation is perfect now.

Yeah I never did get my bridge to come completely off, but I got it loosened enough to get the new nut back on the underside of the saddle, so all good now. I'm using light gauge DR Sunbeams on mine - just happened to have a set that was on sale, not typically a light gauge kind of guy - but it's fun getting all wobbly and bendy! :D

In the early 80's I saw a fretless version of this.
Offered a 4001 Ric straight up. No deal.
Smart seller. That fretless likely would fetch more than most Rics if it's still in any kind of decent shape. Kewl. With the stiff neck on these, a fretless would mwaaaah for days.
