Ever since I started playing my Roscoe 35” five string I’ve been wanting to get a fretless with the same specs, 35” with 18mm. Was thinking about another Roscoe since I do have a four string fretless as well. Unless you get a custom bass, 35” five string fretless basses are not that common.

Then I came across these NS Design Radius basses which was very intriguing. I am familiar with NS Design since I have one of their WAV OmniBass EUB.

The video reviews and demos all were really good. Then I came across an incredible deal on Reverb for a CR5 in mint condition. So I pulled the trigger!

Well received it yesterday, gorgeous bass. Mint condition was an understatement, this bass could have passed as new. Even the tools were still in a sealed bag.

First empression, wow! The craftsmanship of this bass is amazing. Right out of the box the bass was perfectly in tune with insane low action. (Actually need to raise it up a bit)

The headless design makes it balance perfectly, the curved body sits nicely against my body. This model sports the EMG pickups as well as a bridge mounted piezo pickup which can be blend with the EMG pu’s.

Tone wise, only spent a few hours at a gig with it. So far I likey! The carbon fiber core in the neck really brings out the notes and oodles of sustain. The piezo has a three way selector switch for hi/mid/low eq. and is quite sensitive. I just blended a tad with the EMG pu’s.

Not much more I can say for now, I need to spend some serious time exploring this bass this weekend. But so far, I like!

Yes, that is Kenny from South Park on my amp! Gotta make sure nobody kills him!

Sweet bass. I have always wanted one, but could only afford the ns wav 4 bass. Similar setup, but only one magnetic pickup and no frequency selector. O and frets. I love the body contours and design. Makes for a very ergonomical shape. Hope to get a cr5 one day. Congrats i hope you love it

Yea, the body contours are really neat. The only other bass I’ve seen with that are the higher end Spector basses. Which makes sense since Ned Steinberger and Stuart Spector use to work together.

Welcome to the club (I have a 4 string fretted model). It’s a great choice for fretless. How is the neck on the 5 string? I find the 4 string neck rather chunky and round.

Actually the neck is fairly flat and thin, thinner then my Roscoe neck. My only grip, and it's a small one, the bottom edge of the neck could have been a bit more rounded off. May not be an issue with allot of people, but I have small hands.

Well have a few gigs under my belt with the new bass. Certainly get allot of comments about it. So far, I like it. Plays much better after I raised the action a bit. Very comfortable to play, perfectly balanced. Sound wise, had a nice growly tone, plent of fat bottom. Being my fretted 5 string is 35” scale like the NS, no issues with intonation. Still though lots to explore with the piezo and EMG pickups. And the quality of the build of this bass is flawless. Everything is very nicely executed.

I’ve got one of these beauties myself.
Great instrument, but there is one thing I just don’t get: what’s the point of the dots on the face of the fingerboard? They are plain invisible when I play...
Am I missing something?

Any idea how this neck would compare to the Music Man Stingray 5? I realize this is fretless and the MM is fretted, but any info would be helpful. I like the feel of the MM, but wouldn't want to go much thicker.

Sorry, can’t help you there. I actually sold that bass some time ago. I prefer 5 strings with 19mm string spacing like on my current Fretless (Crews Maniac Sound) and my fretted Fodera
