So after long delays due to the pandemic my SDJ arrived today. I'm absolutely blown away with the craftsmanship of it. Top to bottom it's flawless and set up perfectly too. The neck is better than I'd imagined and the dark roast looks incredible!

Of all the basses I've been through this is my first reverse P and it's just awesome. I've been missing out over the years. It looks great and sounds even better!

Reverse P, or is that what happens when you get old.:laugh::laugh::laugh:
:roflmao::roflmao:

I know how happy it made me when I finally came around to all-active reverse-P/J. I wish you the same :thumbsup:
The preamp is interesting on this one. It's just a buffer so it's not exactly active. The balance from note to note is incredible with the reverse P.

That finish IS STUNNING! What is it called?
It's called trans red. There was a nice example of it on their website so I attached the pic and said to repeat it. It's really a red burst, instead of black around the edges it's a slightly darker red. Really makes the grain of the swamp ash pop.

I’ve always been curious about these basses, but they’re way out of my price range. Is this one 33” scale? If so, do you notice a difference between the 33 and usual 34 scale basses?

It is a 33" scale. I don't feel a big difference at all. I went with their standard strings of medium nickels and this reminds me I need to ask them what they put on and scale length. Tension wise it feels exactly the same. Now I just got this yesterday so I compared it to an Ibanez 5 string 34" scale. I do notice the fret spacing difference when playing a walking line which is more comfortable for me not being as spaced out, still not as comfy as a 30" scale but the string tension is better.

It's a fantastic instrument, not going to lie, it's pricey but it has a balance of all the things I want in a bass. I did get an unexpected decent discount when I originally ordered as the pandemic was a few months in and couldn't say no at the time. Don't want to advertise that as I think I got lucky in the right moment.

Beautiful. From the first time I laid hands on an Overwater decades ago they've been on the lust list. The craftsmanship is otherworldly. The electronics, hardware, it's all the tops. And that finish with the marbled pick guard is really pretty. Enjoy that bass.
