I like how this turned out but I'm a little bummed on MJT and the shop experience of who put it together.
I had a Squier SCPB 50's Classic Vibe. I love it but hated the neck finish so I was going to put a Dirnt neck on there, but then I realized I should just do a whole new bass instead and sell the squier.
I won the body in an Ebay auction and I'm pleased with it, followed their hardware recommendations for the Bridge and the bridge was in the wrong spot. So my shop had to move and add holes. Not a huge deal but annoying and made my repair higher - and they didn't tell me the problem. The pickup whole wasn't big enough for the Fralin Split Coil Precision bass pickup I had - so then they had to enlarge that. And they necked the pick up route. Luckily it looks fine and it's not a factory clean finish, but I'm a little annoyed.
I had talked to MJT about pickup space and the recommend bridge after the purchase to make sure that I could get parts that wouldn't require more drilling / work.
The neck is great. I did Hipshot tuners and it feels great.
Sound is great - a little hotter than my Antiquity 60's Pride pickup and definitely hum free compared to the Duncan pickup in my Squier.
All in all, I'm pleased but the work was about $80 higher than expected and I'm not happy about the holes! Lastly - the A string on my flats broke during installation, and they had to use an old string. Super annoyed by that. I don't break strings ever.....
Either way - a fun project and something that I will hold onto forever. I really like the Ice Metallic green and I'm not a big green / blue color fan unless it's surf or sonic!
I'm hoping my next MJT body works out well - a precision body with Jazz pickups. I hope the holes line up with my pickguard.....
