I had a Squier VM Jazz FL some time back and was unwise enough to sell it as I - at the time - had not that much use for it. As the interest for fretless bass came back I got another Squier VM Jazz Fretless. How boring can one be ...
The bass has not been used a lot. Probably because if suffers of small irregularities of the (fret)board around the markers, so it doesn't sound that good and buzzes when fretted close to the lines. These surface irregularities are clearly visible on the second photo.
I now need to do what I did with the old one to make it good: grinding the (fret)board flat and shielding of the cavities. Then it will sing - hopefully as well as the first I had.
I am considering adding a pickguard but don't feel sure if a normal Fender Jazz bass pickguard will fit as the neck looks wide. It measures 64,5mm (2 1/2 in + 1/32) across at its widest. Is that similar to a "normal" Jazz bass?
The bass.
