As if I really needed another bass (I don't!)
I don't know why I was looking at bass gear on Craigslist, I had no good reason. Just wanted to see what's out there I guess. Also I had been thinking about getting a fretted neck to convert my fretless SX into an instrument I could actually play...
Wouldn't you know I ran across one that I just had to have... I have to say, regardless of price this bass sounds great to my ears, feels great and I think it looks outstanding. Excellent condition, not a significant scratch or ding anywhere, pots are quiet and turn smoothly, tuners work properly and the action is set where I like it (not super low, I like to dig in a fair amount). It does have a bit of fret wear but not enough to make it play badly. I wouldn't even know it if I hadn't gone looking specifically for fretwear. Weighs in a hair under 10 lbs so it's a bit of a chunk but not really terrible. I plan to play it mostly just sitting on the couch or whatever but it seems perfectly giggable.
Just thought I'd share since that brand doesn't seem to get as much love around here as it used to, and I feel like for $100 I got a really outstanding deal! I even like the headstock design, though it seems like the Ursa design was never terribly popular among TB'ers.
Some obligatory bass porn for yas:
