Posting to see if anybody has more information about this cabinet. It looks like it would’ve belonged to someone that posts here since it’s so specific. I found it today at my local swap meet for $40! I’ve been inside it already and I know it has an eminence alpha and an eminence 3012LF

The stain on the outside & the speaker jacks on the side are a little quirky in my opinion? I have a LDS 12/12/6/1 that looks similar in design but built differently inside. Check out that front baffle, anybody know of builders that were doing 2 piece baffle?

Yea, seems homemade. The handle screws seem kinda amateur but overall looks like it could rock. What’s the weight? Keep us posted on what it sounds like.
It’s lightweight! Maybe 30-40 lbs. I can carry it fairly easily in one hand but it’s easier to cradle it

it has good extension to the upper mids and treble, but my 12/12/6/1 with the tweeter is still my favorite sound. I’d place it close to a Peavey 215 in terms of sound. It has better articulation and clarity than most cabinets but not like what you get with a tweeter

The 3012lf and alpha 6 are most of what’s in a fEarful 12/6. What’s in there for a crossover? What’s the knob on the back do?

It’s a steal no matter what. The drivers are worth $300, and all the rest of the parts and pieces and grill are another $100 easy.

I’m baffled by the two piece baffle. fEarfuls have a mid chamber built on the back of a one piece baffle. The mid chamber is sealed off from the rest of the cabinet.

fEarfuls also sported a port divider with 1” holes. The crossover boards were often mounted on the port shelf. They had extensive bracing on the large panels.

fEarfuls were a DIY project, so folks had all kinds of looks. The grill is a nice touch, waffle grid round grills were all too common. Duratex was a popular choice for finish. Stained plywood, painted, even tolex depending on the builder’s budget, ambition and skill set.

With the right crossover, this thing should sound great.

Nice find!

I’m not sure exactly which crossover it is, but it’s mounted to the port shelf underneath the 12 like you mentioned. Looks different to the Patterson crossover in my other cabinet (obviously)

the knob is a control for the 6” mid driver, and the control panel is actually on the left side instead of the back.

Here is the CBG (cheap but good) crossover for a fEarful 12/6 with the alpha 6 mid. Mounted on the port shelf. The fEarful 12/6 could be built as a rectangle or cube configuration. This one is a cube.

The larger components on the left are for the 3012lf, the round coil and smaller capacitor are for the alpha 6. There is no adjustment or control for the mid.

You can see the mid chamber is separate from the main cab, and the bracing on the back panel. The port divider served as a panel brace, and the mid chamber braced the baffle. All the panels have bracing. Beefy construction.

This one has a Duratex finish. Rolls on with a rough foam roller, no smell, easy cleanup.

I built a pair of 15/6/1 fEarfuls as well as a few cubes. The big cabs were overkill. The cubes with the alpha 6 and simple crossovers were my favorites, huge bang for the buck.

I took the top handle off and pointed the camera in there. Looks like a variation on the CBG crossover. It looks like there are three capacitors per speaker

betcha there's a tweeter cutout behind that mid baffle ~
I felt behind it but there’s no cutout!

fEarful rules say you now have to read the entire Greenboy/ fEarful mega thread.

fEarful™ 12/6 & 15/6 enclosure designs - FREE!

Extra credit if you can find the old Greenboy forum. And guess the secret password from the musical clue.

It was an epic adventure, lots of builds, lots of drama. The whole thing started around 2008, as I remember.

I discovered the fEarful magic in a blind test at a bass geek GTG. A shoot out of big cabs and custom home builds. The clear winner was a 12/6, hiding behind all the big cabs. I sold my TL 606’s and started building my first 15/6/1 while I waited for parts to come in.

I actually ran into one of my 12/6 cubes at a friend’s house yesterday. It has changed hands a couple times. And it had a really nice grill, replacing my cheapo round waffles. I think 4Mal ordered them up and installed them on the pair. Looked super classy, very pro level.
