Need cool suggestions for a Fretless jazz bass paint job

So, I'm gonna convert my SX jazz bass to a fretless and i want to repaint it.I don't want it to be just like Jaco's bass of doom and I also would not like it to be to dark (because my Warwick Streamer is already dark brown).Any cool/crazy suggestion is welcome.Thank you!

I once did this.

Strip of the paint down to bare wood.
Take a propane torch and scorch the bass in selective places.
Sparingly.
Seal it.
Then apply a clear red/orange poly finish.
