Need Help Buying My First Upright

So I've been playing bass for about 15 years now and have always wanted an upright bass but didn't even know where to start, it seems like different world from what i know. I've found 2 potential starter upright basses on craigslist within my price range but i don't want to over pay or buy something with an issue that i overlooked because of my lack of knowledge. Are either of these two worth my time? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you have any friends who teach the double bass, it would be a good idea for them to have a look at the instrument first.
Better to get a good instrument to learn on instead of learning on one that doesn't respond.

Always play a bass before you consider buying it. The bass should WOW you -- like you can't live without it!
Go to your local string instrument shop, and try out a bunch before you decide. A modern bass generally will not have as much value as an older (USED!) bass. So, try everything ... and take your time... no need to rush.
Best!

Go to your local bass luthier. Even if it's an hour drive it's worth it. My first bass I bought for $1,500 and it was well worth the money. Don't go to the little tacky music stores because they may have okay bases, but their price to sound quality is not as good as you'd get from the people who spend their entire time making sure the bases are set up correctly. Often these little luthier shops are run by people who are having instruments in and out of he shop, repairs or restorations. A used bass will be cheaper.
