Need help to identify a Cab..

Good Evening Bass Brethren & Sistren.

I saw an ad on Marketplace for a Bass Cab that was light. Currently using a BBC Tank 1212 and it is great and overkill for most small bars.

The Cab has a Eminence Kappalite 3012LF Neo 12" and a mid horn in the front and in the back is a pair of ports with removable inserts along with a tweeter.
On the back is a pair of input jacks and 2 switches, one is labeled on/off with controls the high end and the other seems to changed the crossover point.

It appears to be a custom cab and there are no markings on it to identify with.

I checked a few web sites for Greenboy or Bill Fitzmaurice design cabs that look similar with no luck.

They were also selling a B.A.D. (Barry Audio Design) Cab with 2-15" 2-8" and bullet tweeter, which I passed on and a REV 4x8" vertical cab which I picked up as well.

So I looked for B.A.D. website and did not find any reference to this cab.....

The owner of these cabs had passed away (RIP:() and his family was selling off his equipment. I was told he liked hi-end equipment... That is all I know.

I did play a gig and it was awesome, loud and clear, powered with a VT Bass 500.

Thanks.

That should be the earlier generation AK Thunderchild AF (acoustic friendly) version with the tweeter on the back. As you mentioned, the newer tweeter has a different horn on it.
These are known to be very transparent or neutral in sound and are used by upright and bass guitar alike.
If I recall correctly the switch on the back toggles the rear mounted tweeter on and off.
You already looked at the drivers, so you probably noticed Dukes custom, hand-built crossover in there. Congratulations on the score.

yes it is amazing and i think i stole it... he asked 300 for it, i figured the speaker alone was worth 200....

So what's the theory behind mounting another tweeter, which I would presume is pretty directional, on the back of the cab??

With DB any and all help up top is greatly appreciated, IMO.
just wondering why it's headed out the back instead of the front since those highs, presuming that's what's coming out of it, are so directional. They don't bounce off the back of the band or stage very well. It obviously works or folks wouldn't all remark how good it sounds, just trying to figure out why it's pointed out the back.

Congrats on a very good deal! I'd be surprised if the switch changes the crossover point, but more knowledgeable folks can weigh in on that.

The B.A.D. cab could be a fEARful 1515-66, except the bullet tweeter would be odd.

The back-firing tweeter might be nice for a drummer.

And, in case you've ever thought it'd be good to have a white cab...

Actually that’s not a tweeter it should be a 3” midrange and it’s so the band can hear you better on stage. I have a Audiokinesis Changeling 1203 and 212 and both have rear fitting 3” midrange speakers, the 212 has 4 two on the front and two in the rear.
