Need help with Fender Mustang Bass Serial Number

Did a search but am on my phone and looking at a bass. It says made in USA and serial number is s707987. What year? TIA!

S7 would indicate 1977 BUT neck stamps and pots would further indicate year. I could be wrong but I think Fender used S7 into the early ‘80’s.

'77. It was the S8 decals that they ordered 75,000 of, which lasted to near '83....
