So I acquired a GB Line 200 2x10 combo amp and was trying it out on a couple of situations when i noticed a load hum coming from the speakers. As I tilted the combo up I could hear the fan rubbing against something so I decided to take the amp out of the cab and noticed that the circuit board was loose and the screws that hold it to the chassis were loose inside. As I was screwing the circuit board back on to the chassis I noticed a green wire was loose and I am not 100% sure where this wire goes but I think it's a ground wire and that was making the humming sound. Can someone who either has great electronics knowledge or knowledge of this amp could confirm by these pics that this green wire is supposed to connect at the bottom of the stand off screw?

Green wire connects to the TOP of the standoff, and there should be a lock washer between the nut and the terminal.

Why was the hardware loose, was it a DIY repair gone wrong and then sold to an unsuspecting buyer?

This combo is actually my drummers amp that he was using for practicing with his roland electric drum kit so I asked if he was willing to part with it.

Not really sure why these were loose. There were no loose lock washers or nut in the chassis that i could find after shaking and tipping the chassis over so yes, it might have been a DIY before my drummer got it. I did have it in my car for about 3 weeks so maybe they just came unscrewed not being tightened with driving around but not sure. I will go and buy a washer and nut for the standoff. Do you happen to know the size that i would need off hand?

Another question for you. As you mentioned a few weeks ago that putting a ShuttleMax 12.2 in the same chassis slot might not work because of the fans are on the sides, Would this be ok or not recommended if I bought a 1/4 female to speakon adapter for the combo's internal speaker cable and still use the ShuttleMax amp outside of cab?

Thanks.

I think it's M3 (metric), it is NOT a 4-40 even though it looks close.

Yes, you can use the Max outside and feed the speakers using a Speak-On to 1/4" female adapter. Be sure there is no exposed metal on the adapter because the Max output stage is internally bridged.

Hey Agedhorse! I guess I'm not sure what you mean about making sure there is no exposed metal on the adapter? hosa.jpg This is what I was going to purchase. A couple other questions. Do you happen to know where I can get a amp saddle that you used to offer for my ShuttleMax 12.2? What is the full power handling of this combo's speakers? I am assuming that this is wired for a 8 Ohm load min. Thanks for all your help. And if you do have time in the near future it would be great to know what neo speakers you could recommend that would work as a replacement of the stock ones in this combo.

The exposed metal barrel on the 1/4" side is not at ground potential (which is why we used Speak-on and not 1/4") so if it touches anything that is at ground, you will be shorting 1/2 of the amplifier to ground and could damage it.

There are no ShuttleMax saddles, that was only for the Shuttles. I don't know what the tuning is on the ML-200 speakers, it's a pretty old product and I no longer have access to the paperwork.
