Need to choose cab

Hello!

I am torn between two bass cabs, they are:

Eden EX410 600 watts 4x10" vs
Fender Bassman 410 Neo Bass 500 watts 4x10"

I play in small to medium size clubs (mostly rock). I have an MTD 5 string bass and a Markbass little baby bass at 800 watts.

I am not sure which of these two would give me the best overall sound meaning good bottom and good mid articulation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Freddy K

Just curious why you are choosing those two cabs? Are they available locally at good prices?

Thanks for asking.
There are serveral reasons:
1- I shop at zzsounds.com (I'm not endorsing nor do I work for them) and they have good payment plans plus 45 day return.
2- I don't want to spend more than 1k if I can.
3- Both are brand name cabs (maybe not the best) and light enough for me to schlep around.
4- Sufficient power handling for mid size clubs.

Looking at what Zzounds has available, those are pretty good choices. I'd go with Genzler, but you won't do that for less than $1000....or even $1500.

Of the two, I'd get the Eden, but as noted above, 410's have very directional mid range. Off axis, they can be pretty muddy.
Have you considered buying used from Talkbass classified? Are you in North America?

IMHO, it is hard to beat Barefaced, Fearful, and Fearless for high performance.
They pop up on TB a lot, and come in a lot of configurations. $1k will get you a heck of a lot of cab.

What kind of sound/tone do you like?

I live in California.
I agree with you that $1k would buy me a great cab but I can only do payments. I don't wish to wait till I have that kind of money, gigs are coming up. I'm with you as far as choosing the Eden over the Fender.

I've played through the 400W version of this Eden cab. Anyway, it has some sort of coaxial speakers which are very bright, but that means you are stuck with this bright sound even if you don't want it. Also very mid-scooped. For clean sound maybe okay although undefined, for any kind of dirt absolutely horrid.

Thanks, I was hoping someone would reply with some experience on this cab.

Zzounds is a Phil Jones dealer. Phil Jones make the best articulating cabs on the planet IMO. If you haven't tried them, you need to. Anyway, you could get a C8 cab for under $1000, but you'll have to ask them if they can get one because it's not listed among their online Phil Jones gear.

Thanks, I'll check with them.
