Cool, but I am not digging those pickups

I like the idea of the pickups, and of trying something new, but not sure it works on such and iconic shape.

The bridge p/u just looks tiny and in the middle of nowhere... maybe if they reshaped the pickguard slightly to incorporate the bridge p/u? Not sure...

I actually really love how the black one looks, because the pickup visually disappears into the paint, and creates a really clean look. I think what’s bothering me is the “modern”, rounded shapes of the p/u’s just clash w/ the harsh straight lines of the p/g.

Interesting the giant Ric bridge has been replaced too. A good try, just doesn’t wow me.

This may be a dumb question, but it’s late and I’m curious: I’m assuming under the p/u covers they’re just wound around a straight bobbin, correct? There’s no way to wind them off center, correct? Or I guess the bobbin can be triangular and just wound like that? Would that have any side effects?

I agree about the black bass. It looks very clean. I also agree about the pickguard; there must be a way to make it more sleek and still have the Rickenbacker look to it. This is early steps though. This is the first new Rickenbacker bass for years. I see this as indicative of good things.

Apropos pickups, the coil itself might be trapezoidal in shape. Simply the coil is wound around an asymetric bobbin. Not a new idea:
