Well, that was in fact a couple of weeks ago.

Depth and punch. From stoner metal to funk and dub, it delivers. A serious bit of kit. I like it a lot!

Looks great! I'll bet your LM Vintage sounds great through that cab. Congrats!

Thank you! It does sound good and it's surprisingly versatile. The Pbass in the background with "Original 62" pickup and Pyramid pure nickel rounds has a deliciously juicy growl through this rig. Makes me want to play more, which is a justification for the expense (it wasn't that much as I sold my NY122 cab).

How would you compare the 104HR to the NY122?

After 20 or so hours of brake in time, I'd say, it has a deeper and thicker/fuller tone.* It says so in the specs (35Hz vs 45Hz) but I think I can objectively hear the difference. Also more punch and growl. Not that the NY122 is a weak cab, it's not, but the 104HR is like a wild thing waiting to go crazy. Excuse the drama. Of course, it stays composed and controlled but you can feel the - in my context and for my needs - huge potential. It never gets muddy or unmusical/harsh.

*Erroneously or not, I always had the impression, the NY122 had a mid bump that made it sound kinda honky, especially as I was trying to get a reggae/dub tone with my flats Pbass. Not with the 104HR: if I cut the highs and reduce the high mids, it gets very dubby, deep tight bass. On the other hand, with the pure nickel rounds Pbass I get a thick grind for stoner/psychedelia stuff or for some nasty funk.

I owned the 410HR for a while...and I loved it in the store
But I can never seem to get along with rear ports...Bass frequencies do not project the way I like ..I prefer a fuller sound to my ears/ perception.
I changed it for a front ported cab

I have a 121P Combo when I ad the extension 1x12 for 2x12 I have to turn down low mid EQ or add a little VPF.

Not so with Combo Alone, thinking of adding new 2x10 pure [can stack with but not 102p] and selling off 1x12
Heard a video with NY121 and 102p sounded great together.

The Standard series HF & HR always sounded a tad more special in the wild than the others and is always a consideration even with extra weight.

Alternatively, you could use the head of the combo with a 3x10 or a 4x10 or whichever cab. I did that for a while and it works great, I only had to order a lid for the head (it has no lid when sold with/in the combo) that costed 20 bucks or so.

Yes, I also considered ordering the 104HF for more lows but it would have been too much for the use I have for it. The rear port of the 104HR works well so far, full tight lows.

Oh Yes that also has crossed my mind. I have a Top for Amp[and feet] in my 'Save for Later' in my Amazon account:)

Their extra depth (i.e. their larger physical dimensions) could be the secret - more cab volume, different sound. And more to carry, of course. The 104HR is considerably bigger (especially deeper) than the NY122.

The clarity. I mostly play 4 string, but the B on my Lakland 55-02 is outstanding, when used. Of course, who's to say if it's the 104HR, GK MB Fusion 500, Rattlesnake cable, or the DR Lo-Riders? Regardless, the tone is exceptional! Also, the 104HR stands up to 10 years of a bouncing trailer, as well as looking beautiful.
