New Cab Day!

so I usually play either my Traynor YBA-200, Markbass Little Mark II, or my Music Man 65 Reverb through my Ampeg 6x10 cabinet. As of late, I’ve been hearing a wobbly, flubby, rattling noise when I play on the E string of any of my basses. I have some shows lined up so I decided to go to my local Music Go Round and see what cabinets they have there. Long story short, I bought this 2x15 cabinet. It was marked as a Bassman cabinet but after my extensive investigations, I think it’s a Sunn cabinet made in the 70s. It’s loaded with two JBL D140F-6 speakers and It sounds awesome. I haven’t played 15s in years. Not bad at all for $50.

Yeah, it sure looks like a Sunn 200S cab from the 1970s. Those D140s are awesome! Sure wish I still had my old one.... If both of the speakers work, you got yourself an incredible bargain! Congratulations!!!!

Agreed - sure does look like a 200S cab sans the Sunn emblem. You may already know this, but the 6 after D140 F indicates that it is (or possibly was) a 16 ohm speaker. If they are still 16 ohms, then they can be wired either 8 or 32 ohms. Sunn would normally have them 8. $50 is an incredible deal. One speaker is worth more than that. Amazing! :)
