I've been using a custom made 2x12 that I bought from a TB member for a few years. It's a wonderful cab, very articulate/clear, translates growl really well, and is very light (it's really a pick or slap players dream)....BUT it doesn't seem to have that low end rock and roll grunt that I'm needing in my current projects. So it's time to move on.

I'd like to try a 15 (with the option of adding a second.) I'm well aware that 15 doesn't automatically mean lower, but i'd still like to give it a go. I've had 2x10's, 4x10's, 1x12, and 2x12's. Never a 15.

So which one? I'm a 5 string player, but rarely if ever tune below that low B. I do want to keep a hf driver in the setup, and I'd like to maintain as much clarity/responsiveness as I can while adding the thunderous low end I've been missing. I think I've narrowed it down. I get some pretty good deals on cabs through my job so I'll put the prices i can pick them up for to help judge "value."

Old school and heavy (48lbs i think) by today's standards i know but...

I still get a lot of compliments on my Bag End S15X-D. When I need some added pant flap the S15-D goes along for the ride. I bought mine for less than $300. ($250 for the S15-D from guitar center used)

My main rig now is an Aguilar TH500, 2 x SL112, (combined weight approx 55lbs) but I'm a former Ampeg SVT hauler just so you know where I'm coming from.

I use the Aggie rig for everything but rock/classic rock gigs in larger rooms and outdoor shows and then the Bag Ends come out to play!

Good luck with your search

They sell direct no dealers or middleman to deal with.
Search the forums for BR15. I lot of fans. The only negative I recall on Carvin cabs is some people didn't like the multiple driver BR series or the extension cabs. If you wanted 2 or 4 drivers, I think the BRX series would be the way to go. Never hear any thing bad about those. They (Carvin) say the BRX series is more of a Pro/gig level built. I wish they had a BRX15. The great prices have been going on most of this year. I have a feeling they are ready to unleash some new stuff after some inventory reduction. Or fold.

Also the custom vinyl is beautiful! IIRC add about $50. Got my wife a guit combo and it sounds fantastic and looks like furniture. Wife's first comment was, "This could be in our living room." Bordeaux Red, blingity bling bling bling.

Mesa Scout.

I run the combo alone sometimes with a matching cab when needed. Holy crap. It is both articulate and warm at the same time. And man does it take grit well!!!!
