Has anyone besides me noticed this picture from NAMM? Scroll down to near the end of the Guitars and Basses section (third row from the bottom of the section--labeled Fender Offset). Click on the photo and lust. I wish I could reach into that photo and grab that PJ Mustang Bass. It seems that Fender is going to issue a Capri Orange Mustang PJ Bass in October... another $550 gone in addition to the $1000 for the JMJ Mustang. It seems to be a good (and expensive) year for Mustang Bass fans. And capri orange is my all-time favorite non-metallic guitar color.

Yes, Capri Orange. Yummy, Isn't it? Like a great big Creamsicle... must have... must have...

The question is, how I am going to be able to wait until October to get my hands on one without going completely insane. That, and the JMJ Mustang.

Yeah it looks great....especially in a sea of otherwise "dull" offerings in the Fender bass world for the most part.

Damn... I wish that had been available when I ordered my second Mustang PJ. My first is sonic blue, the second one red. I'd have bought an orange one instead of the red if it had been available.

I was planning on buying a red one soon, but I think I'll wait for the orange one now.

...well... unless I can do a bit of rationalization and convince myself that I "need" both a red and orange one. Which I'm sure I can do if I put forth just a smidgen of effort. You know... something to the effect that I "need" one PJ Mustang with stainless steel rounds, one with nickel rounds, one with Chromes flats, and... say one with tape wound flats. Yeah, that's the ticket. Just about covers it: Olympic white: SS rounds, Sonic Blue: nickel rounds, Torino Red: D'Add chromes flatwound, Capri Orange: tapewound flats. Perfect. :D

My red one is currently being defretted. :)

Wonder if they're also going to file down the fret sprout on them?

Interestingly, I didn't have to file them down on my PJ Mustangs. And I almost always have to file them down on everything else because it is so dry where I live. I recently got a Fender Dimension bass that was absolutely lethal--you could have slit your throat with the fret sprout. Luckily, having worked as a guitar repair guy in the past, I still have all the tools to prevent having my hands shredded. I could have used an auto body grinder on that dimension! :D

Yah the two i tried were vicious; a deal breaker for me. Well, that and a rosewood board.

If fret sprout is a deal-breaker, then you're missing out on a lot of great instruments. A lot of basses develop it early-on. You get it taken care of and that's usually that. In fact I think the majority of mine have had it to some degree. To quote Ken Smith, "wood moves" (and metal doesn't).

Ah true, yeah that makes sense. Nuggets of wisdom like this are why I am on this forum.
