Despite my other thread about how horrible the gig was, I got my first chance to try out my ultralight rig.
One small Anvil flightcase fits the Traynor Smallblock 500 head, my reduced pedalboard (Wampler Ego comp, TC chorus, Peterson tuner, and wireless receiver), cords, tools, transmitter, and straps, two guitar stands, and my emergency rig (Radial pre/d.i.)
GK Neo 12 cab.
Basses in gig bags.
The rig sits on top of the flightcase.
Just to see if I could, I carried it out to my car in one trip. Two would be better, but it worked.

The sound- First up, plenty of volume and punch. I think this could keep up even with a ham-fisted drummer. I was missing some of the extreme bottom of my 4x10's, but that went away as soon as the soundman brought up the subs. I dialed in a little more comp. than usual, to round out the tone. EQ was basically flat, a little scoop at 400. No 'small cab honkiness'.

Bottom line. This rig will work for 90% of what I do. I saved one 4x10 for outdoor gigs, or places I know the FOH p.a. sucks. With a decent p.a. this will monitor me anywhere.

Flightcase loaded, and cab= 60 lbs. So cool.

If you had a second identical 2x10 you would still have the 4x10 but have the option of stacking vertically for better dispersion out in the room. You’d be able to hear it better too.

It's a 1x12. And I already own 4x10's I'm going to experiment a bit first, but if I add anything it would be another 1x12. My rig has been in a state of flux since 1974, so it will probably continue to evolve.

That looks like a really fun, tight rig. Gotta love a total weight for EVERYTHING being 60lbs - that's most impressive. I second the suggestion to experiment with a second, identical 1x12 for stacking.

Also, your emergency rig is something I had not really thought of. That's a smart move - now I am considering a similar situation. Kudos to you!

I'm using something similar...Mesa Subway 12 with a couple of different amps (TC Electronics RH-450, Rumble 500 or G&K 700RBII). Works great for practice and small venues. But, for outside gigs, I have G&K Neo 212 that will get put to use.

Question - do you experience any unwelcome "rattle" or other noises from your flight case when the cab is mounted on top? Do you decouple the cab from the case with some material?
Good question. I thought of that right away. The case has an inch of foam throughout. The sides of the cab are very close to the edges of the case, and the hardware on the case is the good American stuff that's OK for cabs. Chinese handles ALL rattle. If I do encounter some problems I will stick a piece of Auralex iso foam under it. Yeah, if I stuck a small cab on a big case, it would create all kinds of odd resonances, and overtones.

Your board is seriously lacking in fuzz :D But other than that, cool little setup.
I FREAKIN' HATE distortion of any kind on my bass sound. That's why my last rig was a rack setup with over 2K. pushing it. To each their own, but I cringe when I hear a distorted bass.
If you were talking about shag carpet covering- I'm all over that :)

Yes, I've heard of people like you.

:D

Maybe @JimmyM was referring to the "fuzz" showing up when you play too loud...
arrrrrrrrrrggggghhhh! :bag:

Honestly, I don't think I've played too loud since I was a teenager.
In a room with a crappy p.a. I walk the room during soundcheck. Even on a small stage, I'm wireless, cause I have to know what's going on out front, often using a different FOH guy at each gig.
With a good p.a. I still walk the room, but if the FOH guy has wooden ears, I'll stand at the board and get my own sound.
From there on in, if I can hear myself very well, the drummer sets my level.

I've been thinking about wireless for exactly that purpose. What wireless do you use?
And nice lightweight rig!

My wireless is an X2, a company that was purchased by Line6. The same technology is avail. in Line6's very good bang for the buck wireless. It's fully digital so it doesn't pick up taxis, and garage door openers. My 2 Sony wirelesses, that were stolen, cost 10x as much never worked as well. Wireless technology has improved so much in the last few years, I really doubt there's a bad one on the market (except the $100 ones, you get what you pay for).
