Hello all.

Let me begin by saying I know a lot about electronics, but very little about speakers and acoustics in particular. I have an older 175 watt GK Backline 210 amp, and I wish to replace the speakers in it; one of the old ones is blown, and the other cannot be far behind. As I paid very little for the amp, and I rather adore the way it sounds (Great clean tones, the OD is tolerable, the other features such as tuning mute, etc., i love) but, well, i need speakers and I have no idea what to use.

I will never plug an external cab into this, as it has only 1 jack on the back anyway (This seems to be an oddball in the Backline series?) Thomann carries the Eminence Legend BP102-8, which would give me 4 ohms and a full 175 watts, correct? Does anyone have experience with these speakers, particularly in 2x10 cabs or combos? I am pretty lost here, and would like to keep my amp and not lose my buttery clean tones.

Help!

Amanda

Unfortunately it’s not a matter of picking a replacement driver for your box but picking one that will work well. Install the wrong driver and your cabinet will not be an upgrade but just the opposite. You need to measure the internal dimensions and the size and depth of the ports, if any, and feed them into a computer program to select a suitable candidate. I’m not a speaker guru by any means but we do have very knowledgable folk here who will help you to a satisfactory conclusion. :)

The manual states that each 10" driver is 8 ohms, so the pair would be the minimum load of 4 ohms.
I don't know what G-K representation is like in the Netherlands, but maybe contact G-K technical support?

Contact the manufacturer's agent in your country and see what replacement speakers GK has available for your cabinet.
