I just thru down the mod hammer on my bad boy. New blue pickguard to hold the new Curtis Novak "Fat" mustang pickup. Had new wiring harness built with CTS pots and Switchcraft jack with a NOS K42y-2 PIO cap. Then swapped out the original (new and bent at that) yucky tuners with new Hipshot HB1's with 18mm bushing/ferrules. Conditioned the semi dry fingerboard.

New strings and white knobs and ready to rock. Don't have amp at house and have to wait a week till next practice before i can test it out. I really love the neck on this bass prompting me to spend another 400 dollars on it, lol.

Oh and i did notice they dropped the price by 70 dollars on them at CME, making it under 400 for a new one. And shout out to Miles at CME for refunding me the 70 dollars 2 months after purchase to cover new tuners that were bent. Going to sell the original electronics and pickguard out of it to also help pad the mods. I'm really loving this thing...

It must have been a short-lived price drop. I see $459.99

Nice man looks decent but still a squire for fender money plus you’ve not much resell value

Still love the look of this. Probably a good thing I didn't see this before I started the project CV Mustang that I did. I spent about the same amount of $$ but my headstock is painted.

I was curious and checked it out but the price didn't drop to $391 when added to the cart.

And I don't need a 4th bass :D

Apparently that deal was only for a short time and it went back to full price. Yes i've spent fender money on it, but i made the choice this was going to be my gigging bass. The neck and body were really nice, just needed the mod's to get her where i wanted. Not sure what "fender" branded mustangs come packed with these days, but i'm guessing the tuners aren't as awesome as Hipshots, and the pickup's probably aren't as good as the curtis novak fat pickup. Maybe the JMJ pickup is close since its a seymour duncan. And the pots and jack and wiring upgraded. So yes to i spent money, but i've also got an awesome sounding and super fun to play bass. rocking it
