Never could quite justify busting out the considerable cabbage for a family of these no matter what praise the majority of users heap upon them. I shopped around and got what seems to be a good deal, loaded them up on my SB-2 yesterday and preliminarily really like what they have to offer. I typically lean towards lower pull strings and gauges anyway and was a little concerned from many of the reviews I read that these were going to be like grabbing noodles, I am very pleasantly surprised that they are nowhere near as floppy at pitch as I was lead to expect them to be. Very slippery and easy on the fingers, the feel and tension are as agreeable as any flat that I’ve played in the past. Great warm vintage whomp, the G&L is naturally a very bright and aggressive bass and these strings are able to temper the edge nicely. I am eager to hear what these become in a year or two, in my world they may not be a good fit for fretted basses but without the speed bumps so far I am on the way to being sold.
