New Tech 21 XB Driver

Hi All.
Have any of you seen this? New from Tech 21

Great demo by our pal Tim! @Gefilter1001

YES ! It look pretty cool.

I have sold my BDDI v2 and my dUg DP3-X. The DP3-X was great for one tone I liked but I didn't get much out of it personally and I wanted a crossover unit from them to get sometimes a fuzzier sound or less scoop/fuller tone.

This one look great, demo sound good.

Some features are quite unique like the Pre/Post mid control. So the mids are before or after the Drive/Comp I think. Like, the Paradriver and MP40 mids are before the drive so it can make that frequencies more distorded or cleaner.

The possibility to have one or the other channel large band and then mix them with or without the crossover is super cool too ! :O

There is a Send/Return and a tuner out, which in my case would be super usefull to send a clean signal from the Tuner Out to my noise gate (Fortin) and use the noise gate in the Loop to cut noise before the output/XLR aswell.

Looks brilliant and also total overkill for my basic needs (a two channel VTDI would be lovely). I don't think I've ever played a Tech 21 product I didn't love and doubt this will break the streak.

Also happy that I'm not the only one who has to insert little "Oops, I actually meant to say..." notes into product videos. Tim is a much better player than me though!

Sounds good, especially the crossover demo. The positioning of the HPF and LPF knobs is strange though, they coloured the LPF red and placed it with the drive, and the HPF silver with the cleans. Normally you'd low pass the clean and high pass the drive. Doesn't appear to be a manual yet so not sure what's going on there.

Nice catch!
This is an engineering sample I did the demo with and there was a printing error on the chassis. But the show must go on!!!!!!

I played it through my SVT/810 and GK MB800 rigs all weekend and this is an absolute BEAST through an amp.
Stop by the Tech 21 NYC booth #4000 at NAMM this weekend to check it out.

I doesn't seem to go really high gain in the demo, is it because the HPF was quite high and PAD in maybe ?
I usually use a pick and like a gnarly midrange (like the MP40 have), if this one can be as grindy/growly as the MP40 it is incredible !

Also, does the Pre/post change the mids on both channel ? I know the MP40 has mids before drive but what is the utility of that on the clean channel with the FET comp ?

I was pulling in the reins a bit for this quick demo to cover the basic features. You certainly can get as grindy/growly as you could possibly want and like all of our products the only limit is how far you want to push the envelope.

The Pre/Post Mid selector is active on the Drive channel only.

Okay super nice to know ! :D The bite switch is like the boost on the MP40 ? Or just a bit more clank, I usually use the MP40 with 2/3 of drive and boost/SShifter ON and I found it enough gain but I think in the demo the HPF was "too high" to hear the mids distorded
