New Warwick Micro amp: Where did all the Warwick love go???

As a gear hound I've been reading up on all the new Class D heads that have come out the last couple years and are just coming out this year. What an exciting time to be a working bass player!

A number of years ago it was all the rage to talk about Warwick amps and many posted their beautiful Hellborg amps/cabs and they were very boo-teek looking. As of recent I have not seen hide nor hair of the Warwick love here on TB.

A look around shows a bunch of nice new beautiful practice combos they released, and I just fell on this very versatile two channel Warwick 1,000 micro head with two channels! It looks like an excellent amp and is competitively priced with most of the 1,000 watt amps. Just a hair under 6 pounds and the size of a thick pocket novel.

So where's the love for Warwick amps??

That anp was great but had some QC issues and the way the compressor interacted with the master colune was a deal breaker. It was loud and sounded great until you turned up and the annoying tone sucking compression started.

Maybe. I was on the fence because I thought it sounded really great. I returned it because it wasn't better than my Thunderfunk or Mesa Walkabout, and at volume the compressor got strange. Do a search here and you will find a long thread on the compressor.

Anyone else here own the LWA 1000 head? Stereo dual amps with 500 x 500 watts per side?

Might be Class D, but definitely not a micro!
