NHL Season 2024-25

No predictions, mainly because I'm rarely correct in the majority of my prognostications.

Always interesting to see which teams are coming off a high from last year, and which teams will be even hungrier to have a better year.

Then there's one team who may never make the playoffs again for the rest of Crosby's career. :crying:

Agreed. Crosby is played out as is most of the rest of that roster. Yay, it's sure sweet the 'big three' are still together, but they chose the wrong three to include in that big.
Then again, this is Pittsburgh where nostalgia reigns supreme. The team is crummy in 2024, but hey man...they couldn't be beat back in 2016 or 2017.

I think Sid still has enough in the tank...he tied for 12th in the league in points last season. But I think the strain of carrying the rest of the squad could wear him down at age 37.

But yeah, you hit the nail on the head regarding Pittsburgh and nostalgia!

Rumours abound that the NHL is going to add two more teams in the near future... Houston and Atlanta. I'm guessing Houston will work, but I have to question Atlanta after two failed attempts.
The other thing that is a concern is watering down of the product. Two new teams means 50 more NHL players, to a league that is already kind of challenged in producing high calibre players. The league will gladly accept payment from new owners and the NHLPA will gladly increase their membership by 50 players, but will the fans be getting a product worth watching?
