A true MF-er if there ever was one. I found him first as a Slabist. Here he is on DB.
He is no longer with us, but his music is. There is a ton of Brazilian stuff on YT - he was Marcus M. and Eddie G., all in one package.
Mostly a Monster Sideman, as far as I know.
Obrigado, Nico.
Check this "solo" out, esp. his Left Hand technique on DB -

The only record I have with Nico is Joe Henderson’s Jobim tribute, Double Rainbow. He’s on the Brazilian squad with Paolo Braga, Oscar Castro-Neves, and Elaine Elias. He takes no solos on that record (as far as I recall) likely because CMB is on the other half with Herbie and Jack. I heard that band live in ‘97 (with a different piano player) and of course Nico played his ass off. But what I really remember is the joyful groove that the band had. Oscar was like a Brazilian Freddie Green, no solos just beautiful grooving rhythm. Paulo Braga… lord it was great to hear those guys live. If they had just played Girl from Ipanema for a half hour it would have been worth it. Of course hearing Joe Henderson was phenomenal. But man, that pocket…

Yeah. Real Brazilians playing Real Brazilian "Time" is the Real Deal.
